National Poetry Month may have ended yesterday, but that's no reason to stop promoting poetry today!

I just received the following email announcing the first ever Navajo Nation Poet Laureate, Luci Tapahons.

Good morning,

The Navajo Nation recently named its first ever Poet Laureate: Luci Tapahonso. She's written several books (short stories and poems). The two I know best are BLUE HORSES RUSH IN (for YA or adult readers) and SONGS OF SHIPROCK FAIR (picture book for children).

Those of you looking for accurate or authentic books about American Indians can rest assured that hers are top notch. Affirmation from her tribal nation can't be surpassed in terms of recognition of outstanding work about the Dine or Navajo people.
