[Libs-Or] Copyright question -- recordings of people reading aloud

One of my Friends has an idea for a community project that involves recording parents and community members reading aloud, and then making these recordings available on the web to others in the community. I love the idea, but I STRONGLY suspect this might constitute copyright infringement. Am I right on this count?
