I wanted to highlight some resources that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is making available to libraries to assist with financial education activities in your community. All of these resources can be found at the agency's Library Resources web site:
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/library-resources/

Program Ideas - there are some specific resources for selected workshop topics, as well as ideas on how to develop partnerships with organizations within your community to develop programs on other topics. The current specific topics include:

*         Preventing Elder Financial Exploitation

* When the honeymoon's over: Tips for household money management

* Get ready for back to school: List, plan, buy

Resources - lists of online resources, including publications, videos, and online courses designed to provide financial education for citizens and to assist librarians in helping library patrons with their financial questions. The resources have been carefully selected to be authoritative and unbiased. Be sure to check out the CFPB Bulk Publications site<http://promotions.usa.gov/cfpblibraries.html>, where you can order up to 200 copies of publications to distribute at your library. Currently English and Spanish versions are available, but there are plans to expand the materials to other languages. Examples of the publications currently available include:

*         Know Your Financial Adviser

*         Considering a Reverse Mortgage?

*         Check your Credit Report

Marketing Materials
Bookmarks, web banners and graphics, posters and table tents are available currently for download, and will also be available to order in bulk for distribution at your library soon.

The CFPB has reached out to the specific libraries to help them develop these resources, and welcomes feedback about the materials and other types of resources that can be useful. Send your ideas and requests to: financialeducation at cfpb.gov<mailto:financialeducation at cfpb.gov>
