In twelve weeks, Mary Minow—attorney, librarian and copyright expert—will develop your skills on what you need to know about copyright. You will go from copyright novice to a librarian who is capable of assisting patrons with a wide range of copyright issues—from open access and creative commons to licensing and digital rights management. You'll come out of the eCourse equipped with tools to develop copyright policies.

This eCourse will provide you with the ability to:

  *   Explain copyright provisions in U.S. law that have particularly strong impacts on public access to information, particularly with regard to libraries and library users
  *   Consider the core values of the library profession concerning open access to information
  *   Develop concrete skills to help libraries flourish in the digital age of copyright, including advocacy skills
  *   Understand broad developments that affect access to information such as international copyright relations, the open access movement, and creative commons
  *   Appreciate emerging issues in licensing and digital rights management that have enormous implications for content control above and beyond copyright concerns
