Please circulate the below advertisement from Gonzaga University, we are looking for a temporary cataloging/metadata librarian! It would be a great job for anyone, beginning librarians encouraged to apply.
The Foley Center Library is accepting applications for a 14 month fixed-term, non tenure-track faculty position for a Cataloging / Metadata Librarian beginning 3/1/15. Minimum Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS or foreign degree equivalent at time of appointment; demonstrated ability to use and apply MARC, AACR2 and LCRI, RDA and LC PCC PSs, LCSH, LC Classification schedules; experience using OCLC as a bibliographic utility; familiarity with authority work; familiarity with performing technical services tasks with an online library system; ability to deal with bibliographic information for Western European languages; demonstrated ability to identify problems, prioritize numerous tasks and respond to multiple requests from library staff; demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing environment; and demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others. Desired Qualifications: 2 or more years of recent experience cataloging in academic Library environment; work experience with Ex Libris Voyager’s Cataloging module; work experience with Ex Libris Alma resource management functions; and demonstrated leadership, creativity, and initiative in analyzing and resolving problems and implementing change.
