Would you like to earn a Graduate Certificate in Youth Services and Literature either with or post a MLIS degree online in an ALA-accredited program?
The Southern Miss School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) is now accepting applications for summer and fall 2015 for classes for MLIS degree, Graduate Certificate in Youth Services and Literature and/or Graduate Certificate in Special Collections and Archives.

Graduate Certificate in Youth Services and Literature
The 15-credit hour certificate includes online courses related to literature, programs, and services for youth (birth to age 18). The certificate may be earned with an MLIS degree, a related master's degree, or post-MLIS.

· LIS 517 - Literature and Related Media for Children (offered fall 2015)
· LIS 518 - Literature and Related Media for Young Adults (offered summer 2015)
· LIS 519 - Programs and Services for Youth (offered in May mini-session)
Choose two electives (one must be 600-level):

· LIS 590 - Library Instruction
· LIS 629 - Studies in Children's Literature
· LIS 634 - History of Children's Literature
· LIS 670 - Topics in Services to Library Clientele
· FAM 650 - Family Life Cycle Development
· FAM 652 - Advanced Child Development
· CIE 768 - Children's Literature for the Early Years

The MLIS degree and youth services certificate can be earned for 43 hours or the MLIS degree and archival certificate may be earned for 46 hours since 12 credit hours can count for both.
