Greetings!
Below are some great resources from WebJunction including two upcoming free webinars – take a moment to register or read up on 3D printing or Project J.O.B!
Articles from WebJunction
• 3D printing in libraries<http://www.webjunction.org/news/webjunction/3D_Printer_Revolution.html>: 3D printing conjures notions of the Star Trek replicator—a computerized machine that can turn a verbal command into 3-dimensional objects, including food items. The evolution of 3D printers is advancing rapidly toward and even beyond that sci-fi vision. This is transformative technology, and libraries are positioned to be a hub of the transformation.
• The Social Library<http://www.webjunction.org/news/webjunction/the-social-library-volume-thirtynine.html> explores great ideas and programming efforts by public libraries. This week’s issue includes libraries supporting new American citizens and a “My Family Reads” photo contest. Check out these inspiring libraries!
• Project J.O.B. aligns health and economic opportunity<http://www.webjunction.org/news/webjunction/project-job-aligns-health-and-economic-opportunity-for-community.html> at the Thorson Memorial Library (MN). Learn about how they partnered with local agencies to build a strong program.

Family Literacy at a Food Pantry
Thursday, December 3, 2015 ♦ 3 pm Eastern / 12 pm Pacific ♦ 60 min
Registration: http://www.webjunction.org/events/webjunction/family-literacy-at-a-food-pantry.html
The Cazenovia Public Library<http://www.cazenoviapubliclibrary.org/> is connecting the dots between early literacy, the local food pantry and family well-being, and they’re doing it all on a small budget. Starting with an Early Literacy project at the CazCares food pantry, library outreach coordinators began to build more in-depth relationships with the food pantry’s clients. Their interactions led to unexpected positive outcomes:
• adults obtaining their high school equivalency through the library tutoring program;
• school age children participating in an interactive summer learning program and book club;
• and the food pantry becoming the site for ESL classes, Dolly Parton Imagination Library sign ups and health literacy initiatives.
Find out how this innovative library team supplemented their small budget with donations and volunteers to make Family Literacy work for the community.
