The Big Lift is an ambitious project with over 200 community partners, including Peninsula Library System (PLS), San Mateo County Library, San Mateo City Library, and South San Francisco Public Library. What’s it about? 43% of San Mateo County’s children are not reading proficiently by 3rd grade (!). The Big Lift aims to fix this with a combination of two years of high-quality preschool and programs to reduce chronic absence, end summer learning loss, and engage families and the broader community to support learning in school and at home.
