I wanted to draw attention to a new web site provided by Census that is designed specifically for those seeking to establish small businesses. If you want to highlight economic development resources in your community, this is a great free tool for quick demographic and marketing analysis research.

Census Business Builder: Small Business Edition

The site allows the user choose the type of business they want to research, and the geographic area. Options include county, city/town, or zip code. The result is a map that displays demographic and socioeconomic data, data about existing business establishments in their chosen category, and consumer spending in that category.
