*              Host Learning Circles for Greater Online Learning Success<http://www.webjunction.org/news/webjunction/p2pu-learning-circles.html> - Most libraries offer programs that bring patrons together to learn, and many offer access to online learning programs, but what about bringing patrons together as a community around online learning? That's the thinking of Peer 2 Peer University (P2PU) and the Chicago Public Library (CPL), who over the past year created the concept of Learning Circles<https://learningcircles.p2pu.org/en/> and have explored the possibilities, built the tools and tested their theories at more than a dozen branches of CPL.

Introducing Learning Circles: Online Learning, Offline

Learning Circles<http://learningcircles.p2pu.org> offer a solution to the isolation of online learning by creating study groups for learners who want to take their online courses together, in-person. Developed by Chicago Public Library and P2PU, these librarian-facilitated study groups meet weekly in the library for 6-8 weeks to work through online courses in subjects ranging from resume writing to public speaking to web design. Participants experience the value of sharing strategies, progress and companionship with peers, all in a low-stress environment. Join presenters Grif Peterson of P2PU and Kate Lapinski of Chicago Public Library to learn more details and recent highlights of the program. However, many people pay for research services, not realizing that they can go to their public library for free, reliable tools and assistance. Learn the reference skills necessary to determine a patron's research experience and reveal the problem to be solved.
