The OLA Leadership Development Committee would like to announce the
following opportunities to enhance and develop your leadership capacities.
Note the PLA Leadership Academy will be held in Portland March 20-24, 2017.

Please let us know if you apply for one of these opportunities.  In
September OLA will announce a new Leadership Development Scholarship to
help support participation in programs and trainings such as these.


The ALA Emerging Leaders program

is August 1. The program requires attendance at both ALA conferences and
offers:

   -

   Leadership development for newer library workers
   -

   Participation in problem-solving workgroups
   -

   Peer networking
   -

   An inside look into ALA structure
   -

   An opportunity to serve in a leadership capacity with ALA


The NAYA Oregon Lead Program
<http://nayapdx.org/community/community-engagement-advocacy/oregon-lead-program/>
deadline is August 10. The program, with monthly meetings from October
through May, offers:

   -

   A chance to take part in a year-long curriculum to develop leadership
   skills
   -

   Long-term training to deepen community ties
   -

   Leadership, community organizing and advocacy learning from Native
   professionals


The PLA Leadership Academy

16. The program, which meets in Portland on March 20-24, 2017, offers
librarians and opportunity to build skills in:

   Leadership and innovation
   -

   Community relationship and communication
