*Please join us at Reed College on Thursday, March 31 for Miriam Posner's
lecture Head-and-Shoulder-Hunting in the Americas: Understanding Lobotomy's
Visual Culture*

Performing Arts Building 320, 4-5pm (Reception immediately following, 5-6pm)

Dr. Miriam Posner (Reed ‘01) Coordinator and Core Faculty in the Digital
Humanities Program at UCLA, will present a lecture on her current research
investigating the history of lobotomy and the visual evidence doctors used
to support this practice. This lecture is open to the public and will be
followed by a reception from 5-6pm.

[image: Miriam Posner]Miriam Posner (Reed ’01) is the Digital Humanities
program coordinator and a member of the core DH faculty at the University
of California, Los Angeles. As a digital humanist, she is particularly
interested in the visualization of large bodies of data from cultural
heritage institutions, and the application of digital methods to the
analysis of images and video. A film, media, and visual culture scholar by
training, she frequently writes on the history of science and technology.
She is also a member of the executive council of the Association for
Computers and the Humanities.
