Hola a tod at s:

Nowadays, our country is going through a dramatic demographic change. As librarians we have to be prepared to attend the needs of all our patrons. Why do we need to know more about library services for Latin at s and Spanish speakers? How do we reach those who are new to the library world? What about those who are new immigrants? And, migrant workers?

REFORMA Oregon is a professional organization for librarians and library staff who serve Spanish speaking and Latino communities and is presenting a half session in the 2016 OLA Pre-Conference: “¡Bienvenidos a la biblioteca! Outreach and Engagement with Latino and Spanish Speaking Populations in your Communities”. In this session, you will learn about REFORMA Oregon, what it has to offer and how you can become involved; hear stories of how librarians are building relationships with their Latino and Spanish speaking communities, their successes and lessons learned; and you will gain outreach strategies, program ideas, and information about resources specific to Latino and Spanish speaking populations. We will also include time for you to share your needs to better serve this diverse community, and together, we will develop ideas for an action plan.

Join us! ¡L at s esperamos!

Martín
