ORSLA Annual Student Event – Speak with information and library
professionals
Employed, unemployed, student, or working professional we all tend to put
off looking at our resumes until the deadline for the job we want is 3 days
away. We might pull it out it out a few times, look it over and wonder
"which job responsibilities should be on here, does that adjective really
describe my work experience, or even how long should this thing be?" We all
know we need to get a second opinion but we just tuck the resume back
(close the file) and forget about it for another day.
Mark your calendar: Saturday, May 14th, 10:30 am - 12:30 at Portland State
University, Smith Hall, Cascade Room 236.
We have been there ... and we want to help by bringing together 5 working
information professionals, all with distinct career paths, who will tell
you about their real-life career experiences, critique your resume, and
above all answer your questions about work and careers and finding work as
an information professional.
Our panel:
• Scott Brown - Cybrarian at Oracle, Owner at Social Information Group
• Ashley Fejeran - Embedded Librarian/Data Specialist, Portland State
University
• Todd Hannon - Library Manager, Kaiser Permanente Center for Health
Research
• Jessica McIntyre - Librarian/Archivist, Crumpacker Family Library,
Portland Art Museum
• Meggie Zamora - Valley Library Acquisitions & Collection Maintenance Unit
Manager, Oregon State University
It's free for MLS/MLIS students. Spend a couple of short hours and know
that your resume is in the best shape it can be. Food! (Light refreshments
will be served)
