The University of Idaho Library invites applications from innovative and service-oriented professionals for the position of Archivist. This position will work under the direction of the Head of Special Collections and Archives and works closely with Special Collections and Archives staff, members of Data and Digital Services, and Technical Services. This position will increase accessibility of university and manuscript collections by accessioning and processing analog and born-digital works, identifying potential areas for digitization, enhancing online discovery through collection descriptions and reducing the backlog of unprocessed collections.
An ideal candidate will have strong analytical and decision-making skills, a flexible and curious approach to technology, and will be comfortable working both individually and collaboratively. The University of Idaho Library Special Collections and Archives specializes in the acquisition, preservation, and use of research materials that document the cultural, political, economic, and environmental history of Idaho and the region. The University of Idaho is the state's land-grant institution; major collection areas include mining, agriculture, and natural resources. The Library is also home of the International Jazz Collections, University Archives, and rare book collections.
As a member of the University of Idaho faculty, the successful candidate is expected to participate in planning and governance, to be able to work comfortably in a shared decision-making environment, and to be active professionally in research, outreach and professional service. An ideal candidate will be intellectually curious with a desire for continuous learning; enthusiastically contribute to the University's research, teaching and outreach programs; explore emerging technologies with regard to potential library applications; and be committed to the ideals of faculty service.
First consideration will be given to those who apply by June, 10, 2016.
