Hello Oregon Librarians!
I realize the majority of you are probably not medical librarians but if you're curious about medical librarianship here is an opportunity to volunteer (4 hours) and attend one of the conference days for free if you aren't a MLA member.
The Medical Library Association annual conference is in Seattle May 26-31, learn more at http://www.mlanet.org/page/mla-17-general-information

MLA 2017: Still Time to sign up to volunteer!
Pre-conference Bag Stuffing Party
There is such thing as a free lunch! We are in need of 5-10 more people to help assemble the Annual Meeting bags beginning at 1pm on Thursday, May 25th at the Convention Center. There are about 1500 bags that will need to be stuffed with the meeting program, call for papers, guides, etc. This project takes about 3-4 hours total, and MLA provides lunch to the volunteers. It's a fun way to kick off the meeting in a casual, informal setting. After you volunteer, you get to be the first to check in for the conference and receive your badge and bag.

Placement Center/Member Resource Room
Prefer something behind the scenes? We are in need of 1 volunteer per shift to help staff the Job Placement Center/Member Resource Room. Ideal shifts are two hours each, and the room is open from Saturday - Tuesday. Volunteers are asked to monitor the room and the equipment, as well as direct visitors to appropriate resources and information.

Hospitality Booth
You can be a local expert! Sign up to staff the Hospitality Booth during the hours the conference registration area is open. You can choose a 2-hour block, any date and time for the duration of the annual meeting. The Hospitality Booth is often abuzz with activity and people asking for information about things from conference details, to restaurant information, or directions to the light rail station. You don't have to be a Seattle local. There are usually at least 2 people at the booth at a time, and there is even a LibGuide<http://guides.lib.uw.edu/MLA_Hospitality/Welcome> available for booth volunteers to refer to on myriad topics.

NOTE: If you are NOT an MLA member AND you volunteer a minimum of 4 hours, you will be eligible for ONE free day of admission to the conference. Please indicate if you are a non-MLA member when you sign up, or email us.
