FYI, some of us think there is true Koha, which is free, and there is
Liblime which has become sort of proprietary and not really contributing to
the open source product. They are found at
http://www.liblime.com/welcome and not at the Koha site I gave,
https://koha-community.org/, which is the larger Koha community. I just
thought I would say this because there is a difference.
Douglas County Library is disolving and I suspect that the individual
libraries will not have funds to maintain a contract with their current
ILS. I hope they will have enough time to be able to transfer ILS
information.

Hi Melody,
There are a couple of “free” options available for a library catalog.
Others can chime in, too. My general favorites are:
1) Evergreen ILS <http://evergreen-ils.org>
2) Koha ILS <http://www.koha.org/> (mentioned by Diedre)
These will require a level of local support to get off the ground if you’re
self-hosting. If you do not have a budget for that it could get more
complicated. There are hosted/support options for those two also (Equinox /
ByWater Solutions / LibLime) which can make the process smoother.
There are some other options I don’t have personal experience with that
could be interesting to check out:
1) Libraika <https://librarika.com/> — cloud hosted, free up to 2k titles,
paid option with more functionality
2) Libib <https://www.libib.com> — for circulation/patron management
feature will likely have to upgrade to “pro” version
I’ve used LibraryThing'ss TinyCat <https://www.librarycat.org/> for my home
collection, but if the collection is small enough it could be an option?
Paid options as you go bigger as well.
Are you going to need to migrate your patron/collection information to the
new ILS (library catalog)? That might require contracting out for some
support. Any reason you can’t keep your old catalog? Licensing/Contract?
Feel free to contact me off list if you need any more info and I’ll do what
I can to help or point you in the right direction!

Hello,
My question is what kind of free library catalogue programs are available
and how well do they work?
I'm a library board members rather than a Librarian. It was recommended
that I join this group to ask questions about software for a library
catalogue.
In Douglas County we are facing library closer and we are trying to find
ways to give patrons access to some library services after the closure.
One of the things we now need to work on is acquiring library computers and
a catalogue program for the books so we can still check them out to
patrons. (Rather than switch the library to a reading room model when no
books can leave the building).
It has been stated in various library meetings around the County that there
are free library catalogue programs available but I've never any additional
information.
Thank you for any information you can provide.
