Hi Kirsten,
We use the 3M RFID pads with configuration software to program the tags. This software can be used to deprogram them as well. Please let me know if you have questions.

Subject: [Libs-Or] Deactivating RFID tags

Hi folks,

Those of you who use RFID tags: what method do you use to deactivate them when you discard items? We've been carefully slicing through the tag with an x-acto knife, but that isn't always effective, and it's causing quite a bit of annoyance with our library book sale -- lots of false alarms! This method also doesn't work so well with DVDs and audiobooks...
