Hello all!
Through a Laura Bush 21st Century Librarians grant from the IMLS, the Connecticut State Library is doing a pilot project (EXCITE Transformation for Libraries) to build collaboration and innovation capacity across the library community.
There is a focus on recruiting participants from the northeastern US, but they’re opening it up to library staff, volunteers, and board members throughout the US. Tuition is covered by the grant funds, and they are also offering some money to participants to offset travel costs.
See below for more info.
Cheers,
Ross Fuqua

Subject: [lstac] IMLS EXCITE Innovation Grant - Recruitment - Be a part of the TRANSFORMATION
Hi all –
CT State Library was thrilled to receive a Laura Bush 21st Century Librarians grant from IMLS this fall. We’re trying to spread the word as widely as possible about our project for the library workforce, and I’m hoping you can help by sharing the info below with libraries (public, academic, special) in your states. While our marketing efforts are aimed largely at the Northeast states, teams from ANY state can participate. Please note that we’re providing $2000 per team to help offset travel and substitute staffing costs. Please let me know if you have questions!

Recruitment Opportunity
Good Morning!
Recruitment for CT State Library’s IMLS Grant Project, EXCITE Transformation for Libraries, opened October 1st, 2017.
EXCITE is an intensive team-based experiential learning program that will teach collaboration and innovation skills, result in programs and services that respond to community input and demonstrated needs, lead to cultural change at libraries, and sustain project impact through extended training.
Who should attend?
Public, academic, and special libraries from all over the Northeast United States are invited to send four-person teams to participate in the Core Program training in Cohort 1 or 2. Library staff, trustees, Friends, students and interns can make up your library team.
What does it cost?
Thanks to a grant from IMLS in the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarians category, this training opportunity is TUITION FREE (a value of $4,400 per person). Also, library teams will receive up to $2,000 to be used towards travel, lodging, and staff coverage.
Why should you attend?
Pilot project participants felt the language, skills, and tools taught in the EXCITE program were essential to helping libraries transform and be relevant in the 21st century, that the skills learned had a positive impact on teambuilding, and that this training helped to create a stronger culture of collaboration and innovation in and between the participating libraries.
When?
