“Critical librarianship asks us to look more closely at the sociopolitical
world both inside and out of our libraries,” so we can inform our
professional practice as librarians. Kelly McElroy, Student Engagement and
Community Outreach Librarian at Oregon State University, has been a pioneer
of this relatively new concept. She co-edited the Critical Library
Pedagogy Handbooks with Nicole Pagowsky, and as part of the group of
moderators, she facilitated the very first #critlib chat on Twitter. To
