[Libs-Or] Governor Brown's Letter on Education

Hello Oregon Library folk -

FYI - This letter from the Governor to her Education Cabinet was shared at the Early Learning Washington County (our hub) steering committee meeting yesterday. We found it reassuring that early learning was emphasized and that early learning hubs were named specifically. Also, we received clarification that "Develop a New Statewide Early Learning Plan" did not mean changing the hub system, rather is a directive for the state government education leaders to work more intentionally together to improve outcomes.

I'm pleased that the Governor's guiding principles stress accountability and equity.

Although libraries weren't named specifically, we all know that we play a huge role in the education directives laid out in this letter. We are critical partners in this work and need to remain strong voices at all relevant tables.
