Greetings!

Here are some upcoming online courses being offered by Infopeople:

Emotional Intelligence in the Library Workplace<https://infopeople.org/civicrm/event/info?id=736&reset=1>, an Infopeople online course, February 13, 2018 - March 12, 2018
Would you like to better serve your customers, work in a more productive and harmonious setting and experience greater satisfaction in your work? Emotional intelligence, aka "the other kind of intelligence," is considered by many to be more important to workplace success and satisfaction than technical ability or IQ. When we interact with co-workers or customers, emotions are part of every human interaction. The good news is that emotional intelligence can be developed in very practical ways with focus and practice.

In this course, you'll learn:
* What emotional intelligence is and why it matters
* How the human brain and biological responses impact emotional intelligence
* Techniques for developing emotional intelligence, including calming and cooling strategies
* Using emotional intelligence to take constructive action

Do you help patrons in your library's makerspace, technology lab, or media lab? If you regularly help patrons to use technology, this course can help increase your skills and improve your library's services.

In this course you will learn how to...
* Explore traditional and non-traditional models that libraries can use to provide technology instruction for patrons of all ages
* Learn planning, promotional, and evaluation processes to improve existing services and programs and better meet patron needs
* Look at ways to support staff learning to increase technology skills and improve services

We will look at real life examples of the challenges faced by libraries and their patrons, and the approaches individual libraries are taking, including a number of ways libraries are collaborating with local agencies.

This course will also explore...

* Why libraries should be part of the caring community surrounding those experiencing homelessness
* The challenges faced by unaccompanied LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness
