If you're not already familiar with Skillsoft, see below the graphic for more information about this continuing education resource available to all staff of academic, public, school and tribal libraries!

Skillsoft Update: Improved Access to Technology Videos

In addition to the 700+ courses on a range of topics available through the Skillsoft site, learners have access to thousands of short, instructional videos covering desktop software and IT skills. The technology videos on subjects like web development, networking, operating systems and databases, have previously been discoverable only through search.

But now all videos can also be found by browsing the content Library. To browse IT and technology topic videos:

First, Login in to Skillsoft<http://webjunction.skillport.com> with your free account (Need to register for an account? See these instructions<http://www.oregon.gov/osl/LD/Pages/resources/skillsoft.aspx>.)


1.       Click on The Library and you will see a list of categories

2.       Choose IT Skills Courses and Videos, then any sub-topic

a.      Alternatively, you can choose Desktop Skills, then any sub-topic

3.       Select Videos as the content type

4.       Due to the large number of videos, you may wish to use the Search this category feature to narrow your list of results.

Looking to strengthen your technology skills or improve your interpersonal skills? All library staff in Oregon have access to free learning through our subscription to Skillsoft. With over 700 online courses, 30,000 short instructional videos (2 - 8 minutes) and job aids on a wide range of technology and business topics, you'll find great learning opportunities. Library staff can pick up great skills as well as tips and techniques through this free resource.

Here are just a few of the courses that you have access to:

  *   Creating a Positive Attitude
  *   Privacy and Information Security
  *   Essentials of Interviewing and Hiring: Conducting an Effective Interview

There is also a variety of technology courses including:

  *   Microsoft Excel 2016 Essentials: Creating, Editing and Saving Workbooks
  *   Google Apps: Gmail and Calendar
  *   Adobe Photoshop CC
