Work Schedule, Hours, FTE, Salary Range

FTE: 1.0, Full-time
Schedule: Monday through Friday, Days
Salary: Starting at $17.83/hour

Functions/Duties of Position

As a member of the library's Technology Department, this position performs many tasks related to creating, loading, and maintaining metadata for digital content and assists in a variety of technology support functions for the library.

Creates and maintains metadata for digital content using digital library software. Performs quality control and bibliographic maintenance. Maintains controlled vocabularies. Participates on the Digital Production Team. Other duties related to the functions of the position, including assisting in metadata creation and maintenance.
Applies scripting and other automation tasks to load bibliographic and patron data into the integrated library system and data repositories within the library.
Assists in technology support issues for the department. These can include desktop support, web development, and access to network services.
Attends regular departmental and Library meetings; appropriate training/educational or informational sessions; other projects as assigned.
Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED
Two years of library experience OR an associate’s degree and certification as a Library Assistant OR a bachelor’s degree higher in library science OR two years of IT support experience may be substituted
Ability to interact professionally with a diverse set of students, staff, and faculty. Ability to manage fluctuating workload. Demonstrated customer service skills.
Demonstrated history of rapidly acquiring new skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree with certification as a Library Assistant.
Three or more years of experience as a library technician in a public service department; previous experience with data entry; experience using Alma circulation module; experience working with and training library student employees.
Either: Intermediate level skills in using library automated subsystems, demonstrated ability to understand policy / procedures / standards and work independently within them. Experience with MARC, DublinCore, or other widely used metadata standards OR Advanced Microsoft Office skills, computer scripting, experience supporting technology.
Ability to triage technical problems related to desktop computing.


Additional Details

Working conditions:

This position requires regular lifting and handling of books up to 20lbs., pushing and maneuvering loaded book trucks and/or prolonged computer keyboarding.
