On behalf of the Public Library Division board I’d love remind everyone attending OLA 2018 to join us at the PLD dinner on Wednesday April 18th from 6-9pm. For just $55 you can enjoy a tasty meal<https://orlib18.wordpress.com/registration/meal-choices/> , fascinating conversation and networking with your fellow public library folks, and timely insight from special guest speaker, Marnie Webb. Marnie will share experiences from her extensive work in and outside of the US as CEO of Caravan Studios that will truly help libraries light the way to a bright future for their communities.

About Marnie Webb

Marnie Webb is the CEO of Caravan Studios, a division of TechSoup, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Caravan Studios’ collaborative approach uses a theory of technology intervention to allow communities to respond to the issues they care about most. Caravan Studios has used this methodology to launch projects in the United States, Brazil, and Qatar. The work they do impacts survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence, youth who are in poverty, immigrant workers, and people who want greater food security. Caravan Studios has received funding from Microsoft Philanthropies, Vodafone Americas Foundation, Humanity United, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, among others.

Previously, Webb was co-CEO of TechSoup Global, a 28-year-old organization that distributes more than $600 million in donated technology to NGOs world-wide. In this role, Webb counseled Fortune 500 technology companies, such as Cisco and Microsoft, on philanthropic initiatives that align with their business objectives and recognize the creativity and innovation that nonprofits have to offer.

Named one of the Top 10 Silicon Valley Influencers by San Jose Mercury News, Webb is a sought after writer and speaker on innovation, community, and the social web. In 2008, she won NTEN "Person of the Year" award and was included in to the Nonprofit Times' list of the 50 most influential leaders in the U.S. nonprofit sector and is the initiator of the NPTech tagging experiment. She’s even currently working on an air quality sensor project and is looking for Oregon public libraries as partners! (See attachment for more info.)

Hope to see you there!
