[Libs-Or] Open Library Specialist 1 Position Newport Public Library

The Newport Public Library team is looking for an enthusiastic bilingual (Spanish/English) Library Specialist to help us share with the community all that the library has to offer. This 24 hr/week position is an entry-level library position. The individual would work under the general direction and supervision of the assigned supervisor. An employee in this class shall perform routine general library work and may acquire proficiency in general specialized areas of library work. The essential job functions and examples of duties performed include:

  *   Provides courteous, high-quality service to all members of the public by responding to requests for service, in both Spanish and English, in person, online or by telephone.
  *   Uses automated circulation system to charge and discharge library materials, create and edit patron accounts
  *   Assists patrons in the use of library facilities, materials and community resources

  *     Performs routine work in assigned areas with extreme and meticulous attention to detail

  *   Maintains library facilities, keeping them in orderly and appealing condition. Files library materials and performs other duties as required
  *   Ability to alphabetize and to understand Dewey Decimal system
  *   Ability to spend multiple hours per day working with computers in repetitive tasks.

  *     Flexibility and organizational skills to deal with multiple and unexpected tasks and patron needs simultaneously
