I LOVED it, and I loved talking about it.  I fought for it under one
director, and the board voted it down because he was leaving. Then under the
next director we were able to get it approved.  It's becoming more and more
common in Ohio-I think you're definitely on the forefront for Oregon.   :) 

My current board seems to have never heard of going completely fine free
until very recently, so I'm not going to go there quite yet. I may start
slipping hints in here and there and work up to it later. ;)

Awesome! We literally went fine-free at my library just this week, but I've
been working on selling people on the idea for almost three years. I am
super excited about the change!

I recently came to Oregon in July, but at my former library in Ohio we went
completely fine free after having been fine free on juvenile card types for
many years.  I helped write the policy and implement it.

Additionally, the Coastline Directors just voted to eliminate fines on
children's materials in our consortium.  It just went into effect on 9/10,
so there isn't much to discuss yet.  But I'm sure there will be more to
share between now and OLA-WLA 2019.

I'm working on an OLA-WLA 2019 session proposal tentatively titled "We Went
Fine-Free and You Can, Too." I'm really interested in putting together a
panel of folks from libraries that have successfully eliminated all or a
subset of their overdue fines (for example, maybe your library has recently
discontinued fines on children's materials). If you've successfully worked
with your governing body to eliminate overdue fines and would be willing to
talk about how the process worked and any pitfalls you've encountered,
