Hello all,

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has released their national Public Library Survey data for FY2017 (see more with links below). We have also posted the final data for Oregon’s most recent Public Library Statistical Report (FY2017-18) on the State Library of Oregon’s website here:

Some of this data will be reflected in the national survey data a year from now.

Surprisingly enough, the next reporting cycle (for FY2018-19) for Oregon public libraries is right around the corner! ☺ We will open the survey tool to public library directors on or before August 1, and the reports will be due by October 1, 2019. If you’re interested in the changes to the survey this year (don’t worry – there aren’t too many!), please check out our revamped guide for Public Library Stats:

Each year since 1988, the survey has provided a national census of America’s public libraries. The data are collected from approximately 9,000 public library systems comprised of over 17,000 individual main libraries, library branches, and bookmobiles in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.
