The Oregon Library Association Quarterly is seeking submissions for the
Summer 2019 issue. The OLAQ is a professional journal that showcases the
writing and work of library employees in Oregon, and is indexed in LIS
databases.
The theme for the Summer issue is *Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion,* and
will be guest edited by Elaine Hirsch, Vice President/President-elect of
OLA. EDI will be a focus of OLA's agenda in the coming year, and it is the
theme of next year's OLA Annual Conference in Bend April 28-May 2, 2020.
Potential authors are invited to email Elaine with their questions and
ideas at elaineghirsch at lclark.edu *Proposals are due June 3, 2019* and
articles on July 15, 2019 with a tentative OLAQ publication date of August
15, 2019. Article length averages 1,000 to 2,500 words, and images and
creative work are welcome!
Submissions should explore equity, diversity and inclusion in all
connotations and intersections including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual
orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical and mental abilities,
religious beliefs, political ideologies, and geography. Articles may focus
on outreach, programming, collection development, staffing, continuing
education, etc. or be personal narratives or creative in nature.
Please give this some thought and l look forward to your questions and
ideas!
Thank you,
Elaine Hirsch
