I don’t know if the figures on the state signatures is up to date but it
currently shows Oregon with the second highest number of signatures
collected. Only Ohio has more. Great job!
It looks like signatures are going to continue to be collected.

Dear Colleagues,
Despite strong outcry from the library community and the general public,
Macmillan Publishers begins its library embargo of new eBook releases
today. So it is now time to broaden our advocacy
<http://www.ala.org/news/press-releases/2019/11/ala-turns-congress-macmillan-ignores-public-call-reverse-library-e-book>
to include the U.S. Congress.
As you know, ALA recently released
<http://www.ala.org/news/press-releases/2019/10/ala-denounces-amazon-macmillan-response-congressional-inquiry-competition>
its submission about problems in the digital marketplace provided to the U.S.
House Judiciary’s Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial, and Administrative
Law
<https://judiciary.house.gov/subcommittees/antitrust-commercial-and-administrative-law-116th-congress>.
(You can read the full report here:
http://bit.ly/ALACompetitionDigitalMarkets.)
ALA is now asking library advocates to reach out to Congressional offices
of Members on this Subcommittee only. Those who reside in districts of Members
on this Subcommittee
<https://judiciary.house.gov/subcommittees/antitrust-commercial-and-administrative-law-116th-congress>,
please contact Alan Inouye if you would be willing to reach out, but do not
reach out yet. If there is more than one library advocate in a relevant
congressional district, we will want to coordinate efforts.
ALA will provide suggestions for how to do this outreach.
Meanwhile, many of you have asked us to keep our #eBooksForAll
communications campaign and online petition live so that your patrons and
advocates can continue to register their opposition—particularly as many of
them will begin to feel the effects of the embargo. We are updating our web
pages now, but the URL remains the same: ebooksforall.org. Please continue
to share and promote the petition and website so that we may continue to
activate these advocates as we expand our advocacy.
You all play a vital role in our work to enhance learning and ensure access
to information for all. If you haven’t already signed up as an advocate,
please do so here: http://bit.ly/ALAadvocate2019. Be sure to follow ALA on
Twitter <https://twitter.com/alalibrary>, Facebook
<https://www.facebook.com/AmericanLibraryAssociation/>, and Instagram
<https://www.instagram.com/americanlibraryassociation/> to stay up-to-date
on all of our advocacy efforts and, in particular, the progress of this
campaign.
Many thanks to all of you for your continued interest and support on this
critical issue.
Regards,
Alan
