Hi everyone,

Once again, federal library and museum funding is at risk. The Institute of
Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Library Services and Technology
Act (LSTA) grant program fund so many critical programs for Oregon
libraries and museums: Answerland, OSLIS, statewide database licensing, the
State Library consultants you all know and love, the LSTA competitive grant
program, individual grants to museum and heritage institutions, and much
more.

This is the fourth year the funding has been threatened. We got it all back
and then some the last three times. We can do it again! Please contact
Senator Merkley, Senator Wyden, and your federal representative to let them
know what this funding means to your local libraries and museums. Phone
calls are typically the most effective, but emails and tweets are great,
too. Please make sure to follow all of your employer's regulations when
engaging in political activity. Public employees can refer to this

Dear Buzzy,

It happened again.

Today, the White House released its FY2021 budget proposal and - for a
fourth time in a row - it intends to eliminate the Institute of Museum and
Library Services (IMLS), including all funds from Library Services and
Technology Act (LSTA). The administration's new budget not only strips
funding from IMLS, it brushes aside funding for other library-eligible
education programs.
