Thanks to everyone who has already signed up to be a volunteer for MLA 2020 in some way already.

Just a reminder that if you have not signed up yet and wanted to that our initial call for volunteers goes through tomorrow, February 20, 2020.  We are making a general inquiry now to see who would be interested in signing up for particular tasks (see below) so we can get a better sense of what we already have covered and what we still need to cover. We will send a second email in March/April where you will be able to sign up for the actual shifts you would like.

We are excited to see you in Portland, Oregon in May 2020 for the national Medical Library Association (MLA) 2020 Conference<https://www.mlanet.org/p/cm/ld/fid=1627>!

To help put on this event, we need a number of volunteers for various tasks. We are making a general inquiry now to see who would be willing to sign up for particular tasks (see below). We will send a second email in March/April where you will be able to sign up for the actual shifts you would like.

The volunteer opportunities, and general timeframes for them, are as follows:

Stuffing Conference Bags
Help stuff the conference bags with all sorts of goodies while catching up with your colleagues! Snacks will be provided!
Thursday, May 14 from 1-5 p.m. at a location to be determined (TBD).

Staffing the Hospitality Booth
Help provide directions and other information about Portland to conference-goers. You do NOT have to be a resident of Portland to sign up for this if you feel familiar enough with the city to field questions about it.

The Hospitality Booth will need 2 volunteers per shift (each shift is 2 hours long) during the hours that the MLA registration desk is open. At present, the registration hours are as follows:

Friday, May 15                  7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 16             7:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
Sunday, May 17                7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Monday, May 18              7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, May 19              7:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Staffing the Placement Center/Member Resource Room
The Placement Center/Member Resource Room serves as the home base for attendees looking for their next positions and employers seeking new hires. Career consultants provide career-focused advice and  one-on-one resume counseling.

The Placement Center/Member Resource Room will need 1-2 volunteers per shift (each shift is 2 hours long) during the hours that the MLA registration desk is open. At present the registration hours are as follows:

Friday, May 15                  7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 16             7:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
Sunday, May 17                7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Monday, May 18              7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Tuesday, May 19              7:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
