WACIPI: 21st Annual Traditional Powwow

Portland Community College and the PCC Sylvania Campus Multicultural Center
are proud to present Wacipi – a celebration of Native American culture and
tradition.

Please join us for an extraordinary campus and community celebration. This
cultural event features drum groups and dancers from across the region and
attracts more than 1,000 participants each year. It supports the PCC Native
American Scholarship Fund and Native American businesses by offering vendor
space.

   - Doors open at 12 noon
   - Grand Entries at 1pm and 7pm

   - *Free Community Dinner:* 5:30pm

   Grand Ronde)
   - Whip Man – Deitz Peters
   - Co-Host Drums – Four Directions and TBA
   - Head Dancers – Cheryl Stinnett and Tyee Russell

Event Details

   - Open to the public – everyone is welcome!
   - Traditional Native American drumming, dancing, crafts and food
   - Free admission and parking
   - Free community dinner at 5:30pm
   - Raffle prizes

Drum Group Information

For drum groups, space and payouts are available to the first 10 groups. No
walk-ons or drum hopping. Advanced registration is due by Wednesday,
January 8, 2020. Please contact the PCC Sylvania Campus Multicultural
Center at 971-722-4116 to register.
Drop-In Volunteer Orientation

   - Week of January 6 and 13. Stop by anytime, Monday through Thursday
   between the hours of 10am to 4pm. Sylvania MC (CC 231) or call 971-722-4116

Vendor Information

Merchandise vendor space is limited to 18 indoor vendors. There is a $75
fee for each 10' x 10' vendor space, (please note: pop-up tents are no
longer allowed and no tables will be provided for merchandise vendors).
Priority is given to Native American-owned small businesses and authentic
handmade Native American merchandise. Advanced registration and payment is
due by Friday, January 3, 2020. Please contact the PCC Sylvania Campus
Multicultural Center at 971-722-4116 to register.
College Fair information

Space is limited to 8 registered College Fair vendors and 8 non-profit
organizations. There is a $50 fee for College Fair vendors and no charge
for a table if you are a Native American non-profit organization. Advanced
registration and payment is due by Friday, January 3, 2020. Please contact
the PCC Sylvania Campus Multicultural Center at 971-722-4116 to register.
This event is alcohol and smoke free

No tobacco products are allowed on PCC premises.
Native American Student Scholarship

Proceeds from PCC's Annual Winter Powwow support the Native American
Student Scholarship. Your participation and support of Powwow will ensure
that the tradition of increasing access and retention of Native American
Students continues. For more information or if you would like to make a
tax-deductible donation to the Native American Student Scholarship please
contact the PCC Foundation <https://www.pcc.edu/foundation/>.
