Request for Editor Candidates:

PNLA Quarterly (Journal of the Pacific Northwest Library Association) https://pnla.org/pnla-quarterly/

The Pacific Northwest Library Association (PNLA) is requesting proposals from individuals seeking consideration to become the next Editor of the PNLA Quarterly.

Current Overview:

PNLA accepts articles, reviews, programs, and presentation summaries specifically related to librarianship in the Pacific Northwest Region. Individuals submitting articles have the option to request peer review. Currently, there are 4 regular columns and rich article content from the Pacific Northwest region. The journal has migrated to its current digital home at Montana State University (https://arc.lib.montana.edu/ojs/index.php/pnla/index). The journal has a small editorial board that has been involved in reviewing articles, generating calls for submissions, and writing columns.

The current editor will work with the new editor(s) to ensure a smooth transition over the course of their first published issue.

Reporting Relationship and Term of Contract:

The Editor(s) reports to the PNLA Board. Editorship will be for a period of two years beginning Spring/Summer 2020. This term is renewable for an additional two-year cycle based upon approval of the PNLA Board of Directors at their Annual meeting in August of each year.

The Editor(s) will receive a complimentary PNLA membership for the length of their tenure, as well as free registration at the annual PNLA conference.  Travel assistance to PNLA meetings and annual conference may also be available depending on funding availability.

Preference will be given to those applicants in the Information Science Field, those working in the Pacific Northwest, and to past/ current members of PNLA.

Responsibilities:

The Editor(s) are responsible for the content of the Quarterly, and for maintaining and implementing a vision that will keep the publication relevant to members of PNLA as well as other library professionals working in the Pacific Northwest.  The Editor will be responsible for monitoring review comments and suggestions, making acceptance decisions in a timely manner, notifying authors, corresponding with accepted authors, and working with author submissions to the extent necessary in order to make the contributions of the highest possible editorial quality.  Reviewers for peer-reviewed articles will be selected from a pool of qualified PNLA members.

The Editor will be expected to deliver the content for each issue of the publication according to a mutually agreed schedule. The content will be delivered to the appropriate parties at Montana State University for publication on the Open Journal Systems site https://arc.lib.montana.edu/ojs/index.php/pnla/index
