Greetings!

I wanted to provide an update on a couple of items I learned from a recent update on operations from the U.S. Census Bureau.

WeCountOregon events in July - A virtual celebration of the LatinX community<https://www.facebook.com/wecountoregon/photos/a.2310633582492958/2612556202300693/>, featuring Delores Huerta, is scheduled for July 9, 2020. Other regional events are being planned throughout the month ... the best way to find more information about upcoming events is the WeCountOregon event calendar<https://www.facebook.com/wecountoregon/events/> on Facebook.

Mobile Questionnaire Assistance - This program deploys Census staff to set up booths or tables in public spaces to provide assistance with filling out the Census form. In previous years, these booths were usually set up at outdoor community events. Given the restrictions and cancellation of many of these events in 2020, they will only be deploying staff to do this work in a very targeted way, with specific safety protocols. They will be focusing on areas with a low response rate, and will be looking for high traffic public spaces like grocery stores, and potentially, libraries. If you are contacted by Census staff to assist in setting up one of these booths in your area, please do your best to help.

If you are curious about the current response rate in your local community, you can look it up on this map<https://2020census.gov/en/response-rates.html> or ranked list<https://public.tableau.com/profile/us.census.bureau#!/vizhome/2020CensusSelf-ResponseRankings/RankingsDashboard>.

Info to Distribute with Delivery Services - Some folks have asked about Census promotional materials that are suitable to distribute with library materials in curbside or other delivery services. Attached are some recently produced "cards" that may be suitable to print for distribution. These and other materials can be found on the Census 2020 Resource for Oregon Libraries site<https://libguides.osl.state.or.us/census2020/toolkit>. I am checking about the availability of printed copies of the cards that could be distributed to libraries. If you would like to do this kind of distribution and are unable to print materials locally, please contact me and I will help explore options for receiving printed material.

Nonresponse Follow Up - This is the part of the process where Census workers start visiting households that have not yet responded. Oregon area offices are currently training staff to do this work, and expect to slowly roll out this work starting in mid-July. Census has some advice<https://2020census.gov/en/census-takers.html> about how to recognize Census workers that might be good to publicize in your community. The best way to prevent a Census worker from coming to your home is to self-respond through the online form or phone number<https://2020census.gov/en/ways-to-respond.html> as soon as possible. These options will remain open through October 31, 2020.

Finally, if you are looking for some fresh content for social media posts, here are a few resources to explore ...
