[Libs-Or] Face Masks

For non-surgical masks and other PPE, I've ordered from Net32.com; it's a dental supply company and apparently has an inventory as everything I ordered on Friday is arriving this week. I ordered a small supply of disposable masks and will evaluate them as to whether or not it's what we want to offer to patrons who may not have a mask. Staff already have their homemade masks and we now have face shields too. Net32 also has disposable keyboard and mouse covers which, while not all that environmentally sound, will eliminate the need for constant cleaning of equipment.

For staff PPE, we?ve been struggling to find a supplier for bulk non-medical masks at an affordable cost.
Recently found this vendor https://maskmakersppe.com/
But are cautious as the company was only registered as an LLC in Michigan in March 2020.

So, we may just start with a small 1-3 month supply order.

Our county counsel is of the opinion that we can require employees to wear masks but cannot require members of the public to, given that we're a public building. He said that we can strongly encourage people, too, though, through signage and individual conversations, especially with people who are visibly coughing/sneezing, etc.
Cheers!

Has anyone consulted legal consul regarding a requirement for employees to wear face masks? I see in the state draft that is says to check and see if that is possible. It also uses the language ?encourage?. This was in the reopening guidance for retail stores.
Strongly encourage all employees and customers to wear cloth face coverings. If a store sets a policy that all employees and customers are required to wear cloth face coverings, store management should consult with their legal counsel to determine whether or not such a requirement can be enforced and whether they will provide cloth face coverings for those who do not bring their own

Hi Perry (and all):
We have heard that some libraries have had success with getting supplies by contacting their local emergency management officials. Since a lot of what they do is procurement, they may also provide helpful advice about how to evaluate suppliers. Here is a list of local emergency management contacts: https://www.oregon.gov/oem/Documents/locals_list.pdf

Three people on my staff sew and they are quilters so they have the tightly woven fabric on hand. I supplied them with several acceptable double-layered design templates, most of them with a floral wire insert across the nose bridge. Most everyone prefers masks that tie to ones with elastic. I paid them their hourly wage for the work. They came up with a price for materials per mask ($1.50) and I gave them an invoice to fill out. I calculated that each person on staff should have 4 masks. The three sewing employees each did 1/3 of our total need. Just in case anyone else has similar talent on their staff or in their municipality. Some staff are still choosing to supply their own or supplement with other masks but I committed to commissioning four washable masks per person on staff. I am requiring staff to wear masks for the foreseeable future. We are working inside our building together, physically distanced, and we're also doing a home delivery service.

Hey all,
Recently made this document up for my library on modifying your Zoom settings and habits to minimize the risk of Zoombombing, and my library manager suggested I share it on here as well. Please let me know if there's anything you think I should add or modify for future versions.

A big thank-you to everyone who's already given me feedback on this. It was pointed out that the .pdf attachment won't stick if this becomes an active thread, so I've added it as a link as well for easy viewing.

I emailed our Morrow County Emergency contact. They will not share any masks with us. But he may be able to email me with possible sources.
