Emporia State University's School of Library and Information Management is hosting two virtual events that may be of interest to you and your colleagues:
SLIM MLS Information Session
9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 14
If you, a colleague, or a friend is interested in pursuing a master's degree in library science, join us for a short online information session about our program. Register online: http://bit.ly/InfoSession_SLIM (the session will be recorded, so if you're unable to make that date/time, register anyway and we'll send you a link afterward to the recording).
Free Webinar: Bringing Local History Alive, presented by Marlys Lien and Mary Carpenter
12 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20
Zoom Link: https://emporiastate.zoom.us/j/93143473096
Everyone loves to hear stories about the place they live, yet few people actively seek out primary local history materials. If your library has a special collection full of rich historic details about your community, this presentation will discuss how to get your community to engage with your collections using social media, traditional media, and library programming. Finally, the presentation will explore ways to get people in your community to share their own stories.
Marlys Lien and Mary Carpenter work at Council Bluffs Public Library in Iowa. Marlys is Adult Programming Librarian and Mary is Support Service Manager.
