On Abya Yala, another name for the Americas, songs harmonized people,
culture, and the natural surroundings. Cantando a Tonantzin, a trilingual
song book in Nahuatl, Spanish and English, carries messages of love and
respect for the earth and an offering of thanks for the sustenance we
receive each day.



Learn about the women who came together to bring this beautiful work to us.

This is a 1 hour family friendly virtual book celebration in Spanish and
English.

The first half of the program will showcase a performance of the Jarana
Azteca live from Oaxaca by Yolpaki Xihuit, and poetry read aloud by local
Oakland youth.


The second half will be a moderated discussion with Yolpaki and the
creators of the book: Authors, Rocio Cervantes, and Concepcion Suacedo
Martinez, and illustrator Xochitl Guerrero.


This event will be held via Zoom and streamed Live on the Chavez Facebook
page. Please email OPL Librarian, Annabelle at ablackman at oaklandlibrary.org
for the Zoom link or check the Chavez Facebook Page on the day of the event
at 1pm Pacific Time.
