Hi Alex,
It's great that you are doing this and thinking about it ahead of time.
Here are some recommendations because the microsoft accessibility features
only go so far:
- Install NVDA <https://www.nvaccess.org/> or another screen reader.
- Install Dwell <https://thinksmartbox.com/product/dwell-clicker/>
software or something that will enable a patron to hover over an icon and
click for someone. This is helpful for people with limited hand mobility.
- Headset with a microphone for Speech to Text
- Large Screen Monitor
- Trackball mouse and/or joystick and/or large touch pad
- High Contrast and Large Print keyboard
- A portable reading light for patrons who need to see their paper or
book better. Maybe you don't need it at the station but one should be
available for use.
Make sure there is information on how to use the Accessibility Microsoft
features for staff to reference and staff know how to use the peripherals.
This is really just a start. I'm sure there will be some other great
suggestions posted. Reach out if you would like more information.
Warmly,
Desiree Wolcott-Cushman

Multnomah County is sited upon the ancestral homelands of the Multnomah,
Mollala, Kathlamet, Chinook, Clackamas, Tualatin Kalapuya and many other
Indigenous Nations. These Nations have become the Confederated Tribes of
Grand Ronde <https://www.grandronde.org/>, the Confederated Tribes of
Siletz Indians <http://ctsi.nsn.us/>, as well as the Chinook Nation
<http://www.chinooknation.org/> and Cowlitz Nation
<https://www.cowlitz.org/> in Washington State. Land acknowledgements
recognize and respect the enduring relationship that Indigenous People have
with their traditional homelands. The effects of colonization can still be
felt today and land acknowledgements are a small step down the path of
repair, reconciliation and cultural revitalization. Land Acknowledgement
