Cook Memorial Library - located in La Grande, the "Hub of Northeast Oregon" - is hiring a temporary (12 months) full-time children's services library technician!! (high probability that this position will become permanent)!

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Library Director, the Library Technician I performs specialized tasks related to providing library services to children up to twelve years in age. Conducts both onsite and offsite programming, creates displays, and performs other tasks as necessary to encourage the use of the Library by children and to keep the trust of parents in the Library as an institution. Duties requires independent judgment and action. Regularly interacts with the public and other staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist in developing, planning and actively carrying out a variety of activities for children.
* Organize, maintain, and prepare materials utilized for crafts and activities.
* Create and perform story time and other activities.
* Create and maintain displays of Library materials and seasonal information.
* Assist with the Library's summer reading program.
* Conduct outreach to daycares, schools, and other facilities as directed.
* Conduct in-house Library tours as directed.
* Provide reference and readers' advisory service to phone-in, walk-in and web-based reference patrons.
* Assist with general desk duties, including circulation.

REQUIREMENTS:
* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Previous customer service experience.
* Computer/Technology proficient.
* Prior experience in library services desirable.

STARTING SALARY: $3,254.00 A MONTH
