Dear Colleagues:
The Oregon Library Association’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) and Antiracism Committee is recruiting new members for 2021-2022. This is exciting and rewarding work, and it cannot happen without committee members.
The EDI Antiracism Committee has had an amazing trajectory since its foundation. First, as an OLA Task Force in 2018 until presently, when the committee became an OLA Standing Committee. During these years, library workers in the EDI Antiracism Committee put together award winning initiatives and best practice strategies, such as the EDI Task Force Recommendations (2019-2020) and the EDI Antiracism Toolkit (2021). The committee owes its success to the collective work done between its members. The EDI Antiracism Committee focal areas are:
· EDI Antiracism Best Practices
· EDI Antiracism Advocacy
· Communications
· EDI Antiracism Initiatives and Events
· EDI Antiracism Libraries and Library staff support
· Mentorship for Library Staff of Color
One-hour committee meetings are held monthly. Generally, committee members will spend an additional hour each month for committee work.
Please keep in mind the following:
1. You do not need to be an OLA member to serve in the EDI Antiracism Committee
2. Committee Chair(s) & members must be able to serve at least a one-year term (September 2021/August 2022)
3. All library workers are welcome to serve in the EDI Antiracism Committee, independently of the position held at their library
4. The EDI Antiracism committee values diversity and strives in the representation of its members to reflect the diversity of the libraries’ workforce. For our current recruitment, we will be especially elated to welcome members from all library types, ages, race, ethnicities, gender identity, cultural and educational background
If you are interested in learning more about this great opportunity, please feel free to reach out to the OLA EDI Antiracism current chair, Marci Ramiro-Jenkins, at marci.jenkins at mcminnvilleoregon.gov<mailto:marci.jenkins at mcminnvilleoregon.gov>. If you are ready to submit an application to be part of the 2021/2022 OLA EDI Antiracism Committee, you can find the application here<https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/QjItCkRlMOiL9lqC2Yel6>.
Thank you!
