The Public Library Association (PLA) is giving away 15 scholarships to provide financial assistance for public library workers and students to attend the PLA 2022 Conference<http://ala.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT0xMDMyNDMwMiZwPTEmdT0xMTIxNzM2MTI2JmxpPTkxMDU3NTYw/index.html> in Portland, OR, March 23-25. Five conference scholarships<http://ala.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT0xMDMyNDMwMiZwPTEmdT0xMTIxNzM2MTI2JmxpPTkxMDU3NTY0/index.html> will be awarded in each of the three categories: Early-career Library Staff Scholarships, Non-Salaried or Unemployed Library Staff Scholarships, and Library School Student Scholarships.

Each scholarship includes complimentary registration, one year of ALA and PLA membership, and a $500 stipend for travel and housing. These scholarships may not be applied toward the PLA 2022 Virtual Conference.

The application<http://ala.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT0xMDMyNDMwMiZwPTEmdT0xMTIxNzM2MTI2JmxpPTkxMDU3NTY0/index.html> deadline is Wednesday, December 8, 2021, and awardees will be notified Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

PLA is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all our members and is consistently advocating for equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice. In awarding the scholarships, preference will be given to applicants from diverse cultural/ethnic backgrounds and applicants who identify as members of the LGBTQIA+ community. The selection committee will strive to achieve diversity and balance among scholarship recipients and will also consider financial need and geographical location of the applicant.
