Yes! But instead of listing Jenn’s contact info, it would be best to ask folks to contact the IFC Chairs through the email on our webpage https://www.olaweb.org/contact-ifc

Would this be an appropriate call to action to put on our FB page?

Hello everyone,
For a media story on the surge of book ban attempts, OPB radio host Jenn Chávez is looking to interview any Oregon youth or student activist or group “resisting book bans and/or increasing access to literature for students.”
If you know of any candidates to suggest, please contact Jenn or forward her email address. jchavez at opb.org <mailto:jchavez at opb.org>
Thank you,

Hi there,
My name's Jenn Chávez - I'm a radio host and producer with OPB in Portland. Hope this email finds you doing alright today!
I wanted to reach out with a question for y'all to see if you might have any suggestions. I've been doing some library <https://www.opb.org/article/2022/03/29/mobile-library-street-books-portland-people-living-outdoors/> coverage <https://www.opb.org/article/2022/07/23/oregon-hillsboro-portland-library-tools-rent-things-baking-sewing-music/> for OPB this year, & am currently doing a bit of research into how book bans in libraries impact youth/students. I'd love to find a youth or student activist or group in Oregon to talk to about resisting book bans and/or increasing access to literature for students. My colleagues at OPB have covered various proposed book bans in specific places in Oregon - for this I'm thinking of a broader conversation about the issue that may not necessarily be tied to a specific locale/school district/book.
I'm wondering if anyone from your committee knows of youth or student groups who are doing work around this issue in Oregon? For instance, one thing I saw with great interest is this youth-centered project in NY <https://www.bklynlibrary.org/books-unbanned> - and I noticed this library system had an Intellectual Freedom teen council. But I'm unsure if anything like that currently exists in Oregon!
If anything comes to mind, please let me know. Thank you!
Cheers,
Jenn
