Hello Oregon library friends!

The election is less than a month away and OLA’s Library Development &
Legislation Committee (LDLC) wants to be sure you're ready to vote on
November 8th.

Register (by Tuesday, October 18!) or check your registration
<https://sos.oregon.gov/voting/pages/registration.aspx?lang=en>

Review the voter pamphlet for your county
<https://sos.oregon.gov/elections/Pages/Voters-Pamphlet.aspx>

Your vote counts! We are expecting a high turnout, which means your vote
matters more than ever.

Please do your research and vote all the way down the ballot. As you know,
local school board, city and county elections are important for libraries.
Seek to vote for candidates that support libraries and will actively work
against book bans.

                Sample questions to ask your candidate:

                    Will you stand for freedom to read and against book
bans?

Where do you stand on parental choice in public schools? (May indicate
position on restricting access to library materials)

                Look for key endorsements in the voter pamphlet or on their
campaign websites:

                        Oregon Education Association (OEA)

ther elected officials you already know are supportive of libraries

Thank you for voting by November 8th!

After the election, be on the lookout for more messages from the LDLC about
issues facing Oregon libraries in the state legislature and how you can
help.
