The Opportunity
WCCLS is hiring a Partnerships Team Leader<https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/cowashingtonor/jobs/4292574/partnerships-team-leader> under the direction of our new Community Relations Manager, Hillary Ostlund. They will work collaboratively with WCCLS' partner libraries, community-based organizations, other county departments, and public agencies to build connections, grow relationships, and increase the impact of WCCLS in the community through strategic partnerships. This is a new team in our recently reorganized department. A key part of laying the foundation for this team will be developing a countywide community engagement strategy to work with partner organizations that serve culturally specific groups, houseless individuals, people in custody, older adults, youth, and more. Another critical initiative will be leading and supporting a framework to move forward shared initiatives with our 12 partner agencies operating libraries in Washington County, which employ around 500 library workers.
The Ideal Candidate
Our ideal Partnerships Team Leader thrives on building relationships, understanding that they will achieve organizational goals by identifying and leveraging opportunities for collaboration. Our ideal candidate has the drive to lead the creation of new systems of work in an organization, the emotional intelligence to thoughtfully lead change, and the patience to continue to make incremental progress on long-term goals. You are an energetic ambassador for libraries, with demonstrated success connecting with diverse communities, cultures, and audiences, finding opportunities for collaboration and community-building wherever you go. You have a track record of work that prioritizes equity of access and inclusion, resulting in practical and meaningful improvements for the communities we serve.
The public libraries in Washington County are key partners in this work, and our ideal candidate will have experience working in a public library context. Since the Partnerships Team Leader will be building a new team and responsible for the team's budget, we are looking for a candidate with supervisory/leadership and budget experience. An MLS or other master’s degree is not required.
As Partnerships Team Lead, on any given day you may find yourself:
* Connecting with your direct reports and supporting their work.
* Meeting with the WCCLS Supervisor Team to set and monitor goals for the department.
* Collaborating with the Data Analyst on integrating countywide demographic and library usage data analytics into the community engagement strategy.
* Working with the Library Systems and Collections Supervisor in sensitive communication with libraries about refining circulation policies and procedures for the shared integrated library system.
* Overseeing your team in their work on high profile and complex countywide projects, such as partnerships with local school districts and partner libraries to upload student data and create library cards, reaching students who may not otherwise obtain library cards.
* Connecting with representatives from community-based organizations, community leaders, and partners from other county departments, and representing WCCLS at service provider meetings.
