[Libs-Or] Applications open for attending "Libraries Leading with Equity"

Greetings!

The State Library is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for "Libraries Leading with Equity", a four-part training that provides comprehensive EDI training based on the OLA Anti-Racism toolkit [pdf<https://www.olaweb.org/assets/EDI_Antiracism_Comm/OLA_TOOLKIT_Digital_Copy%202021_02_11.pdf>]. This training champions the importance of understanding and incorporating EDI efforts into all aspects of library services, challenging participants to identify ways in which they can build their skills as strong allies and collaborators.

Library workers, key volunteers, and library advocates from public, school, and community college libraries that are in northern Oregon coast region and in the Clackamas county area are encouraged to express their interest in participation via this form<https://forms.gle/12jicC3BTTRFgXJFA> (https://forms.gle/12jicC3BTTRFgXJFA). In-person sessions will be hosted at the Tillamook County Library for the northern Oregon coast cohort and at the Wilsonville Public Library for the Clackamas County cohort (see below for exact dates and times).

While registration is prioritized for applicants in the northern Oregon coast and Clackamas county regions, others from outside these two regions may also apply and will be considered as space allows - please submit your application<https://forms.gle/12jicC3BTTRFgXJFA> (https://forms.gle/12jicC3BTTRFgXJFA) no later than February 10, 2023.

The 2023 cohorts build on the learning from the 2021-2022 cohorts, which took place in Eastern and Southern Oregon. The cohorts will meet four times, two in person, in Tillamook and Wilsonville, and two times virtually, between February and May 2023. The cohorts will be led by Christina Fuller-Gregory and are funded in whole by LSTA as administered by the State Library of Oregon.

Guided by the OLA Anti-Racism toolkit [pdf<https://www.olaweb.org/assets/EDI_Antiracism_Comm/OLA_TOOLKIT_Digital_Copy%202021_02_11.pdf>], the training will provide opportunities for participants to learn, practice, and apply the concepts presented during both the trainings and in their own libraries and communities. Participants will work together, learning, developing, and implementing skills and best practices that are critical to introducing lasting and successful EDI initiatives, particularly in small, rural, and/or conservative communities. Attendance at all four sessions as well as undertaking an implementation project related to the learning of the cohorts is mandatory for participation.

Specific dates for the four sessions are as follows:

First Sessions: in-person, 9am-3pm
*        Monday, February 27, 2023 - Northern Oregon Coast cohort (hosted at the Tillamook County Library)
*        Wednesday, March 1st - Clackamas County cohort (hosted at the Wilsonville Public Library)

Second and Third Sessions: Virtual, 9am-1pm
*        March 22 (All cohort groups)
*        April 26 (All cohort groups)

Fourth and Final Session: in-person, 9am-3pm
*        Monday, May 22, 2023 -  Northern Oregon Coast cohort (hosted at the Tillamook County Library)
*        Wednesday, May 24, 2023 - Clackamas County cohort (hosted at the Wilsonville Public Library)
