[Libs-Or] Seeking Advice on a Digital Microfilm Reader/Printer

Hi All,

Our library is seeking to replace our 1990s-vintage microfilm reader with a new digitally-capable one. Such readers are uniformly really, really expensive, so we'd like to make an informed choice. Our budget is $5-6k

We're hoping that someone out there has gone through this process recently, and has some advice or recommendations for us on process, brands, and vendors; as a cursory search will reveal several brands and various older and newer models. Some are refurbished, others are lease-to-own, and still others are a straight purchase. Most vendors seem willing to reveal prices only once they have you in their clutches--JUST CALL!!!

We're hoping to find a machine that does most or all of the following:

  *   scans 35mm & 16mm film
  *   scans microfiche - positive & negative
  * saves to USB and cloud storage
  *   prints to a (non-proprietary) networked printer
  * allows for image adjustments (brightness, contrast, etc.)

Any information you may provide us as to process or decision-making (or certainly recommendations) are most welcome!

Thanks!

gm
