Do you give a lot of presentations and want to be sure you keep it fresh, engage your audience and use the latest technology so your slides don't look dated? If so, you may want to try the new Artificial Intelligence feature that is baked into Canva Presentations.



If you use Microsoft PowerPoint (or Google Slides) to create your presentations -- and have mastered these platforms ... why would you want to take the time to learn another tool?

What Canva Offers that PowerPoint and Google Slides Do Not?



Canva has supercharged its presentation platform and made it worth exploring. Let's take a look at the features it offers that are different from other presentation tools to give your slides a new and fresh look.


BRAND NEW: AI Magic Design™



Canva has recently launched a "magical" presentation assistant. If you need a little help getting started, Magic Design™ uses the innovation of AI (with ChatGPT) to create your presentation.



NOTE: This is different from Magic Write™ which is also available. Find it in Canva Docs.



Get started with Magic Design AI by opening your Canva.com account and then:
·    Begin with a Presentation (16:9) blank template. NOTE: Magic Design™ is not available in Presentation (4:3).
·    Engage Magic Design™ by clicking it from the left menu or the Canva Assistant (circle icon) in the lower right of the screen.

·    Enter a brief description of your presentation. For example, we typed "3 Tips to Take Great Photographs with a Mobile Phone" into the Magic Design prompt…

·    Canva will create a first draft for you, based on your topic and will provide several slide designs to consider.
·    Yes, it even gives you written content (and images) on each slide that expands on your presentation topic. Then you can add text and make refinements. Sure, you need to make the presentation your own, but getting this jump start in design and content can save you time.

NOTE: This technology is evolving, so you need to verify any content that is created and you may want to swap out images that aren't quite on target.




And There's More!

In addition to Magic Design™, the Canva Presentations platform is packed with design features to make your slides stand out.


Images, Icons and Graphic Elements

Canva offers 1+ million photos (paid and free) and graphics to use in building

presentations. You can of course upload your own photos as well. PowerPoint offers thousands of images, but nowhere near the variety available in Canva.



Royalty Free Videos and Audio



Additionally, choose from thousands of videos for backgrounds or audio tracks to make your slides come alive -- right in the platform. Or, you can load your own.



Edit right inside of your presentation. Split, trim and create transitions between video clips easily as well as remove backgrounds. You don't need another video editing tool!



Templates



To help you get started quickly, Canva currently has 14,200+ ready-made templates. These plug-and-play options take the work out of design creation and enable you to just drop your content in. Transitions and animations are already included for you. PowerPoint offers 50 layouts in the software to use and an additional 300+ free and premium templates from the Microsoft site.

How to End with a Bang!



Have you ever wondered if you should end a post, a report, or even an important email with a final statement ... a big splash?



We've all learned not to "bury the lead", right? We want to make sure that the important stuff is upfront. So what does that leave for the ending?



There are all kinds of things you can do to make it strong. We found an article online that gives you 17 great ideas.

Looking for a "Few Good Google Data Studio Users"



Do you ever use Google Data Studio? You may know it by its new name: Looker Studio. It is the same thing. It is just repositioning itself to be more broadly used.



What does this web tool do? It takes data you're tracking (such as participation in a reading program) and automatically displays it in graphical and analytical ways.



We're developing a webinar on this topic at the request of a subscriber, scheduled for the end of November. We are looking now for real-life examples in the library world.
