Oregon State University Libraries is now accepting applications for two Library Technician 3, Collection
Maintenance Specialist positions – one with a focus at Valley Library, and one with a focus at the Valley
Library’s off-site storage facility. Both positions are Classified Staff positions, and are represented by the
Classified Staff Union, SEIU.

We seek candidates with an openness to change and learning, and a curiosity for developing project
management skills. The Collection Maintenance Specialist positions coordinate and support Collection
Maintenance processes, services, projects, and essential activities at Valley Library and at the library’s
off-site storage facility. Primary duties for these positions focus on projects related to the physical
collections, and supporting, leading, and/or coordinating projects related to the off-site storage facility.
These positions will lead student employees in the maintenance, physical arrangement of the
collections, as well as Collection Maintenance projects both at the Valley Library and at the off-site
storage facility. These positions are also responsible for supporting the storage service point, along with
its associated workflows.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus two years of current (within 5 years) experience in a Library; OR 4 years of
current library experience. AND Advanced proficiency in multiple library specific computer applications,
e.g. integrated library systems, database applications, institutional repository; content management
systems.

Additional Minimum Qualifications
• Ability to handle a high level of physical activity (i.e. lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing/pulling
loaded book trucks, etc.) due to regular daily tasks within the physical collection.
• Demonstrated ability to use an integrated database and/or book inventory management system
(ex. Alma, Voyager, Sierra, Folio, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to use Excel (data functions, data validation, etc.).
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:
• High attention to detail with good organizational skills.
• Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with a team.
• A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
• Ability to work well with a diverse group of vendors, patrons, other staff, and faculty members.
• Use of technology systems (i.e. Web Browsers, Google Drive, Microsoft Office products, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems.
• Experience overseeing others work (i.e. student workers, volunteers, etc.).
• Experience leading projects.
• Experience using Resource Sharing or Interlibrary Loan request processing programs.
• Experience using OCLC, Primo, and Alma ILS.
