[Libs-Or] Urgent Request: 2025 Conference Programs Chair/Coordinator

Hi all,

We're once again asking you (cue the Bernie memes, here) for your help in
finding a program chair/program coordinator for the 2025 OLA Conference
here in Eugene. We've made some updates to the expectations for this role.
(see below) *We need to have someone in place immediately, so please
respond to this email before the end of the day on Monday, September 9th if
you are willing and able to join us on this adventure. Please reach out to
me sooner with questions, etc. *

*This role: *

   - Is only committing to work for a single conference, September 2024
   through May 2025
   - There is no expectation or commitment for the 2026 conference in any
   capacity
   - A program support position on the committee has already been filled;
   they will focus on evening/social activities so the program chair can focus
   on sessions
   - The program chair will have additional support from the conference
   chair, particularly in scheduling and reviewing session proposals
   -

   Serves as Chair in the absence of the Conference Chair
   -

   Responsible for organizing session programs
   -

   Communications with session proposers and communicating PSAs, etc. with
   all selected presenters

*(the session proposal timeline is being adjusted, however the committee
meetings will remain the same).

*And finally, good advice for all committee members: *

   -

   Before volunteering to be on a conference committee, get approval from
   your institution of employment and verify who will pay for travel and other
   conference committee expenses. Know that while a lower rate is generally
   available to committee members, registration is still required. Any travel
   and lodging expenses are also the responsibility of the committee member
   and/or their employer.
   -

   Committee members should be available to attend virtual, monthly
   meetings, July through April.
   -

   Conference committee roles are not created equal! Different roles
   require different amounts of time and specialized skills.
   -

   Clear and timely communication from all committee members is integral to
   a smooth and supportive experience for both the committee and conference
   attendees.
